Byline policy
Why no piece in this family goes out without a name.
A Perspective is signed by a partner because it is opinion, and opinion without an author can be neither debated nor held to account. The name commits the person who puts it there: if a judgement published here turns out to be wrong, it is corrected under the same signature and the correction is placed on record; no piece is withdrawn in silence. Nothing in this family is published because it generates traffic, but because it deserves to remain useful five years from now. Whoever signs it answers for that horizon, not for the month in which it was published.
